Updates from our first two days of the 113 Mile March for a People's Budget, Not a Prison Budget

We've had an incredible first two days on the March for a People's Budget - Stop Prison Expansion Now!

We kicked off our 100 mile march to Harrisburg with a mass rally in Love Park and a march to the Art Museum.  Thanks so much to all the amazing speakers and organizations who spoke at the rally and marched the first mile with us!  Check out two amazing videos of the kick off rally below:

After the rally at the Art Museum a spirited group of us set out on the nine mile trip to Haverford.  After several hours we made it to the Haverford Friends Meeting House, where we were greeted by our wonderful hosts.  Here we are at the end of the march:

On day two, we set off early in the morning for the nine mile walk to Norristown.  We arrived in Norristown for a rally wilth DreamActivist PA and other local organizers to rally against detention, deportation, and criminalization of immigrants in Norristown. Undocumented and unapologetic speakers will say no to living in fear, and the rally will call for investment in education and community needs instead of in policies Many amazing and impassioned speakers spoke about the connections between mass incarceration, immigrant detention, and cuts to education funding and social services.

You can check out some good press coverage of the rally here:  http://www.timesherald.com/article/20130526/NEWS01/130529672/decarcerate...

We're spending tonight in Collegeville and will be rallying near Graterford at 11:00 am.  Check back tomorrow for more updates!
