In Pennsylvania, and especially in Philadelphia, elected leaders should understand, respond to and advocate for policies that create social and economic justice for all. Consistently the needs of Philadelphia as a large urban center, and the needs of the people who live here have not been a priority in Harrisburg. We are stuck with a political system that increasingly favors the needs of the 1% and often ignores the needs of the rest of us. That’s why we are joining together to ensure a greater range of community issues is raised in the upcoming gubernatorial race. More than 60 organizations, including Decarcerate PA, convened to get 2014 gubernatorial candidates on record on key issues that affect our communities.
