Call-in day script

Below is a sample script you can use when making calls to House Judiciary Committee Chair Ron Marsico and Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Stewart Greenleaf.

You can call their Harrisburg offices at:

Representative Marsico - 717-783-2014
Senator Greenleaf - 717-787-6599

Thanks for calling!

SCRIPT for calling Representative Marsico:

Caller: Hi, my name is _________. I’d like to speak to Representative Marsico or his staff person who handles House Judiciary Committee matters.

You will almost definitely be told no one is available to speak with you. You can then tell the receptionist or whoever you are speaking with:

Caller: I am calling to demand that Representative Marsico convene a House Judiciary Committee hearing to investigate the prison construction in Montgomery County and determine whether the Department of Corrections intentionally misled legislators and the public about the rationale for this expensive construction. Three busloads of people came to Harrisburg last week to hold our own “People’s Hearing” because Representative Marsico has so far refused to hold the DOC accountable.

As a resident of Pennsylvania, I am very concerned that the decision to build the second most expensive construction project in state history appears to be based on lies and misinformation. I believe our legislators owe it to their constituents to investigate these important matters. I would much rather see the state invest in __(tell them what you would invest in instead of prisons here)___ instead of pouring over $400 million into unnecessary new prison cells.

Is Representative Marsico ready to finally hold the DOC accountable & convene a hearing on this?

If you don’t get to have a real conversation with someone, make sure you leave your name and number and ask them to have a staff person call you back.
