Mother's Day Rally to Bring Our Loved Ones Home

The City of Philadelphia has sentenced more children to die in prison than anywhere else in the world. These sentences tear apart families and communities and do nothing to make our city safer. No child should live their entire life behind bars. That is why the Coalition to Abolish Death By Incarceration (CADBI) invites you to join us Friday, May 6th for a Mother's Day Rally to Restore Families & Communities and Bring Our Loved Ones Home.

The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that mandatory Juvenile Life Without Parole sentences are unconstitutional, but the state has failed to provide meaningful relief for the 500 people in Pennsylvania already serving this sentence. In honor of Mother's Day, we are calling on Pennsylvania to end Juvenile Life Without Parole/Death By Incarceration. We are calling on state and city officials to create space for healing, redemption and compassion by following recent U.S. Supreme Court rulings and providing immediate relief.

WHAT: Press conference and rally focusing on ending death by incarceration for young people, bringing immediate relief to people whose cases fall under the recent Supreme Court rulings on Juvenile Death By Incarceration, and broadening the definition of "young person" so those rulings would apply to far more people.

WHEN: 12-2pm on Friday, May 6

WHERE: Meet on north side of City Hall (JFK & Broad St), with speakers to be followed by a march to the District Attorney's office.

Please help us spread the word by sharing this email or spreading the word on facebook. We hope to see you there!
