Cops: Seven arrested following protest at State Correctional Institution at Graterford

SKIPPACK — Police arrested and charged seven protestors in relation to a demonstration that occurred at the entrance of State Correctional Institution at Graterford in Skippack early Monday morning.

According to police, the protesters, who are part of a group called “Decarcerate PA,” set up ten school-style desks to block the construction entrance at Graterford, with seven protesters sitting in the desks and eight more standing near the desks.

Following the arrival of police, the protesters were ordered to disperse. However, the demonstrators ignored the call and seven were arrested.

Those that were arrested were charged with criminal conspiracy, criminal trespass, failure to disorderly persons to disperse upon official order, and disorderly conduct and arraigned by Magisterial District Justice Albert Augustine, with bail being set at 10 percent of $5,000.
