Protests interrupt Corbett at town hall meeting

PHILADELPHIA - Protesters representing a number of causes repeatedly interrupted Gov. Tom Corbett during a town hall meeting in Philadelphia, prompting an early end to the event.

The Philadelphia Inquirer (http://bit.ly/NDm0g6 ) says demonstrators at one point interrupted the Wednesday night program at the Philadelphia Museum of Art for seven minutes.

Police removed more than 10 people and WPHT talk radio host Dom Giordano ended the event a half-hour earlier than the planned 90 minutes.

Several groups protesting expansion of the prison system unfurled banners and chanted "Fund education, not incarceration."

There were also protests about Corbett's support of natural gas drilling, his social service and education funding proposals and the scheduled Oct. 3 execution of death-row inmate Terrance Williams.
