For the Coalition to Abolish Death By Incarceration Mothers Day Event:

Sometimes our perceptions of things are not always correct. I myself was very wrong. I always believed that the females in prison were the worst of the worst. Gosh was I wrong! Since coming to prison myself on a case of circumstantial evidence, I have gotten to know many lifers. Many are so kind, loving. They work hard, go to church, and have good reports from housing ad jobs.

Some lifers are here for being at the wrong place and the wrong time. Some were protecting their families. And yes, some are actually innocent with actual proof. Courts protect other courts (as in my case).

So many females over the age of 50 is costing taxpayers hundreds of hundreds of thousands (each person) every year as the medical issues grow with aging.

These females have proven themselves while incarcerated that they are not violent. They desperately want to get to know their kids and their grandkids, a reunion they are wish daily. A second chance for a re-entering should be based on the severity of the crime and the evidence.

Every lifers' dreams of the day they will get up at a crack of dawn and start cooking for that holiday dinner with the whole family.

Everyone should have some kind of hope. The lifers over 50 will never come back to prison.
